I’ve said it many times before and I’m going to bet I’ll have good cause to say it many times more, but common sense, it ain’t that common. And that goes for pretty much all walks of life, and the plumbing industry ain’t an exception. Since we brought in our rapid trans-London parts delivery service, and introduced 7am-7pm week day opening hours, and 7am-5pm on Saturdays, we’ve been grabbing more business than you can shake a plunger at!
And the demand just keeps on rising to the point where we’re putting a second van on the road this week, capably navigated around the city by none other than a former Londoncabbie, Roy Conners. Roy knows more short cuts than even my driver, Young Eric, and will be adding his talents to our already revolutionary delivery service to get parts to our customers’ jobs the fastest way possible.
Plumbers are telling me everyday that being able to call up our merchant and get a spare to site pronto, while they get on with the job rather than going for a 2-hour drive, is a complete god send. By having a massive stock list (improved further this month with a doubling of our floor space), and a fast, efficient delivery service the guys on the tools are completing more jobs, quicker, and that most often means on the first visit.
And of course the main thing here is that our customers are getting a better service, and that’s putting smiles on their faces and some extremely appreciative emails in my in box.
You do have to wonder why the rest of the industry hasn’t cottoned onto this years ago, but like I always say . . . . common sense, it ain’t that common!
